Some information about Sra. Mergl...

I learned to love Spanish from my father, Dr. Jim Snow, who enjoys traveling to Latin America. The summer of my junior year, I lived with a family for a month in San José, Costa Rica, and was fortunate enough to travel, study and even skip class one day to see Mother Teresa. I graduated from Frederica Academy (many moons ago) and attended Georgia Southern University. I was chosen to participate in Disney World's College Program during the summer of my freshman year and I had a wonderful time working at EPCOT and taking a course. I earned my 'Duck-torate' (which is higher than a 'Mouse-ters') and I had a lot of fun meeting all of the tourists and getting to go to any of the parks when I wanted for free!During the summer of 1992, I went to Segovia, Spain to live with a family as well as take university level classes. The wonderful thing was that during this time Spain was hosting the Summer Olympics in Barcelona as well as the Expo in Seville. In 1993 I graduated from GSU with a B.A. in Spanish and a minor in Psychology. I returned for one more year to complete the requirements for Georgia teacher certification. I had a wonderful professor for foreign language curriculum, Dr. David Alley, and then I student taught in Effingham County, GA. After finishing the program, I had three interviews and in July of 1994, I was extremely lucky to be offered my first Spanish teaching postion at Glynn Academy by Mr. Bill Wood. I have had a lot of great things happen to me, like marrying a particular Canadian in 1998 and having a son, Christopher, in 2000. In 2004-2005 my fellow teachers and board members gave me the the highest honor of Glynn Academy Teacher of the Year and also Glynn County Teacher of the Year.

Currently I teach Spanish II, Spanish IV, and AP Spanish Language. I am the Foreign Language Department Head, and I am the advisor for the World Language Club as well as the Spanish Honor Society. I am also in charge of planning Glynn Academy's Senior Grad Bash Trip, which is ALWAYS a lot of fun! On my Web Site I will have links dedicated to all my classes, the two clubs, and to Glynn Academy's Grad Bash. I will try and update things as much as possible, so please keep checking back!

In 1998 I was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus. I know that there is a lot of misleading information out there, so I have tried to blog about my chronic illness. Unfortunately, I have not had the time to keep up with it, but I thought that someone (who is really bored) might like to read what I have done.

Forks sign breakingdawn

I am a big Twilight Saga fan, which makes sense since I enjoyed the vampires Lestat and Louis while growing up.

The Forks sign picture was taken by my cousins Katie and Julie Matthews who just HAD to rub it in.

Jaguars signGibson the doberman

My family LOVES the Jacksonville Jaguars. (We aren't fair-weather fans!)

Gibson Mergl (our family's 100 pound doberman) is a faithful Jacksonville Jaguars fan. (This picture was displayed during the Titans/Jags home game in early October 2009.)
